Who is eligible for a $0 FTTP upgrade?

nbn® have begun to rollout the fibre upgrades across Australia. Over the next two years, approximately 2 million addresses will be eligible to be upgraded from Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP). How does FTTP differ from my current connection type (FTTN or FTTC)?

Fibre to the Premises means fibre is connected all the way to your premises, replacing traditional copper lines. Fibre to the Node (FTTN) has a fibre connection running to a mini-exchange or node near your premises, which is then connected from that point to your property through a traditional copper line. Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) uses a fibre connection almost all the way to your home, taking advantage of the existing copper wiring to complete the connection between your home and the curb.

What are the benefits of FTTP?

FTTP is the best nbn® connection for future-proofing your premises due to its superior speed and potential for future expansion. The main advantages include the speed and reliability in transmitting signals which means users can both upload and download things quickly whilst enjoying high-quality streaming media. Will my existing equipment work on FTTP?

The majority of nbn® compatible routers will work on a FTTP service, you may just need to update your equipment settings before being able to use the service. We cannot promise all BYO equipment will work on our service, however our team will do our best to help you get your existing equipment working if compatible.

Do I need to change my current plan?

You must sign up to one of our eligible high-speed plans when upgrading to FTTP. This plan change will only take effect once the FTTP connection is activated. We have a great range of eligible business plans including Fast (100/40), Ultra (250/100), Turbo (500/200) and Elite (1000/400) plans.

What is the nbn® FTTP Upgrade Program?

To help power business productivity, nbn® co introduced the FTTP upgrade program — also known as Fibre Connect or Fast Fibre. This initiative replaces outdated copper wiring with advanced fibre optic cables, delivering faster speeds and improved connectivity for customers.

Eligible businesses with an nbn® Fibre to the Node (FTTN) (opens in new tab) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) (opens in new tab) connection will have the opportunity to upgrade to the superior nbn® Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) (opens in new tab) technology.

What to expect during your installation

Getting ready for your nbn® FTTP installation is simple. Here's what to do before installation day:

Choose a suitable location for your nbn® equipment
Ensure the technician can access the required areas
Have a site contact available on installation day
We'll install and test the required fibre equipment
Your service will be activated once installation is complete
